UFS-NGS Unit Website Design & Development
The University of the Free State Next Generation Sequencing (UFS-NGS) Unit is a research facility within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The Unit provides genomics services to researchers and supports research, training and scientific collaboration in next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics.
Savit52 designed and developed the UFS-NGS website to provide the Unit with a central online platform for communicating its scientific work, services, research outputs, training activities and team information.
WordPress Web Design for UFS-NGS
The website was designed around the needs of a specialist scientific and academic organisation. The interface provides clear pathways to the Unit’s NGS services, research outputs, teaching and training information, team members, news and contact information.
The website also provides dedicated information about the Unit’s role within the University of the Free State and its work in genomic research across Africa.
NGS Services & Scientific Information
A key part of the website is the presentation of the Unit’s technical services. These include DNA extraction, quantification, DNA library preparation, amplification, sequencing and genome assembly. The website provides information about the technologies and equipment used within these services, including sequencing and laboratory technologies.

Research & Training
The website was also structured to showcase the UFS-NGS Unit’s research and educational activities. This includes research outputs, conference outputs, workshops, training programmes and information about current laboratory members.
The Unit runs training initiatives designed to develop genomics and bioinformatics skills among researchers, students and scientists from South Africa and other African countries.
